If you are laying around and waiting for your pay-day to arrive so that you can head out somewhere. You need not do that as there are a number of things to do in the city of Brisbane that won’t cost you a penny and still make your day an awesome one. It has everything from exceptional markets to scenic drives to lush tropical activities. We have mentioned a few activities you can do in Brisbane free of cost while on a visit to the city-

Cycle along the New River Walkaway

This is a must thing to do if you plan to visit Brisbane. The place has an interesting story to its background. It got destroyed in the massive 2011 floods of Brisbane and has renewed itself like never before. It is a popular circuit for the city’s fitness geeks that starts from the eastern side of the Kangaroo Point beginning at River Court view.
It has a multipurpose path split into a cycle lane and a pedestrian lane. To get a wholesome view, cycle along the path till its endpoint at Howard Smith Wharf Precinct. There are many places along the path to stop and enjoy the opposite scenic view.

City Hopper River Cruise

This is the perfect way to get an awesome view of the Brisbane river and that too free of cost. The City Hopper Ferry covers the waterway from Sydney Street in New Farm to North Quay in the city. It is also used as a free transport service between the city and inner suburbs. This free hop-on, hop-off service runs every half an hour between 6 am and midnight, seven days a week. It also has rooftop seating available to add on the fun element.

Get a look over Brisbane

The city offers many spectacular views because of its varied terrain. It has beautiful landscapes of forests, parks, and mountain ranges and that too not much far away from the city. There are loads of walking and hiking options you can consider like a scenic drive to the top of Mt Coot-Tha. The place offers a brilliant and spectacular view of the vast stretch of the city from the north towards the bay and airport to the sprawling suburbs south of the river. To add to the beautiful experience, there is also a cafe and a restaurant on hand.

Get on a road trip

If you want to spend a lovely day by getting the most scenic views of vertiginous mountain landscapes and deeply scooped valleys, you must head out on a road trip to Nerang–Murwillumbah Road. There are several stops along the way to stop for a coffee or just to gawk at the view. Capture the picturesque landscapes in your camera.

Explore city parks and gardens

One thing you can’t deny is that there is a lot of greenery in Brisbane. Visit the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens or wander through the city’s oldest park, the City Botanical Gardens. You can also head out on a picnic to the peaceful Roma Street Parklands with your family or go to  Epicurious Garden in South Bank to explore the amazing flora of the place.
